Friends of the
St. Clair Shores Public Library

The Friends of the St. Clair Shores Public Library was established in 1983 under the leadership of its first president, William Gilstorf.

We are a 501c3 not-for-profit organization run by a voluntary Board of Directors which support the St. Clair Shores Public Library, but it is neither governed by the library nor any city or government agency.

The Friends support and sponsor a variety of activities designed to enrich your library experience.

Our Purpose

- To maintain an association of persons interested in books and libraries.

- To offer and maintain the Used Book Store in the Reading Lounge.

- To promote knowledge of and participation in library programs.

- To provide funds to meet special library needs.

- To support and cooperate with the library in developing library services and facilities for the community.

- To encourage gifts of books, endowments, and bequests.

- To provide a channel for individuals and organizations to express ideas and make suggestions for library use and service.

  • 50% discount on the rental fee of $2.00 videos, no limit.

What We Do

  • Monthly book discussions.

  • Periodic book sales over the course of the year.

  • Fundraising events including accessories, tote bags, puzzles and bookmarks.

  • Support speakers and reading programs for adults and children.

To date, the Friends, through fundraisers and membership, has contributed over $400,000 to the library.
