WELCOME!

The Friends of the Saint Clair Shores Public Library are committed to creating, supporting, and sponsoring a variety of activities designed to enrich your Library experience.

We are a 501c3 not-for-profit organization run by a voluntary Board of Directors, which support the St. Clair Shores Public Library, but it is neither governed by the Library nor any city or government agency.

The organization was established in 1983 under the leadership of its first president, William Gilstorf.

To date, the Friends - through fundraisers, book sales, and membership fees - have contributed over $400,000 to the Saint Clair Shores Public Library.

OUR PURPOSE

The Friends of the Saint Clair Shores Public Library strive to:

• Maintain an association of persons interested in books, libraries, and the community

• Promote knowledge of, and participation in, Library programs and events
  Support and collaborate with the Library in developing services and facilities that support the community

• Provide a channel for expression of ideas to improve the user experience in the Library

• Create and promote special events that support the Library and the community

• Provide funds to meet special Library needs

• Encourage gifts of books, endowments, and bequests

• Offer and maintain the Used Book Store

WHAT WE DO

• Develop and support special programming within the Library, including monthly book discussions, presentations from  local and national guest speakers, and reading programs for youths and adults, that help enrich and engage the community.

• Create fundraising events within the Library and with community partners that provide critical funding to the Library to improve facilities, services and programming that serve the community.

• Enhance the Library experience by providing safe spaces within the Library that encourages engagement and exploration.
